Windows memory diagnostic does not show results

Now expand Windows Logs. Right click on System and click on Properties. Under General tab, check the box Enable Logging. Under When maximum event log size is reached click on the radio button Overwrite events as needed oldest events first. Click on Apply and OK. Article for reference: Troubleshooting Event Viewer. When I use the Find function of the event-viewer, it will find only the event that scheduled the Memory Diagnostics Tool, but there are no results.

Could the reason be that my disk is encrypted with bitlocker and that the Memory test that runs after a reboot, can not access the disk to write to the event-log because it is encrypted? Test results do not appear in the event log, all settings of the event log were by default in the same way as you suggested.

I started checking for errors because after the last update I cannot open any Microsoft Office file word, excel, ppt and I have tried to fix according to all suggested answers. I now know why the results did not appear in my event-log. My disk SSD is bitlocker protected. In order to be able to use bitlocker, I had to enable the PTT in the bios.

Because I could not find the mem-test results before, I have now made sure I was at the computer when the memory test finished. After the test finished there was a message like 'Enter the bitlocker recovery key of your drive. This is required because the TPM is not available' or something similar. I had the recovery key at hand, and entered it. Then, the PC rebooted, and the test-results were in the event-log, as they should.

And there was also a notification with the results. When I would not have entered the bitlocker recovery key, the PC would probably have powered off after a minute or so.

Normally when I reboot I have to enter the bitlocker pincode not the recovery key , and if you wait more than a minute or so, it will power-off. For the needed logs run this command and then zip the logs on the desktop and post a share link into the thread using one drive, drop box, or google drive.

Sometimes it requires some setting modifications. Well, the Memory Diagositic is supposed to show the user me! Then, it's supposed to show the user the results again after Windows boots, but it doesn't.

There's really nothing to prevent it from doing those things. An extensive search for a '. I think the Memory Diagnostic just doesn't work as advertised. My computer produces dozens of logs every minute or so. I've searched them. They contain nothing from Memory Diagnostic. But if you want to see them, I'll be happy to post them Neither of them were UEFI compatible and would not boot. In fact, they weren't even recognized as bootable.

There are no BIOS settings required to make that happen. PS: Ah! You see, such malware is the reason I don't allow Windows to access the Internet. I access the Internet only in a virtual machine running Linux. There was an administrative command prompt command posted that automatically collects the files used for the troubleshooting. The files are posted on the desktop. So if you run the administrative command prompt command it will collect to files used in the troubleshooting.

If you are unable to post logs or unwilling to then it will be difficult to have others help you with the computer problems. This website has volunteers non Microsoft employees that help others with their computer problems. So if there are many pictures or videos or txt files it is easy to share them as it only requires uploading the data once. Then the share link can be posted in multiple places with the same files without having to keep uploading files.

I've not had this much difficulty explaining the cloud, explaining and receiving the files to troubleshoot and am ready to move onto others that need help. Regarding memory, it is supposed to be DDR4.

In order to see labels, I'd need to break into the laptop. I have not found a utility that will confirm that the memory is, in fact, DDR4.

I will search. Do you know of a utility that will id the RAM? I appreciate your attention. What is it you are pursuing?

Now, memtest86 no plus sign has a version that has an EFI directory and will boot. But it apparently crashes after sign-in and configuration by me.

I have stated many times that I've looked at all the logs I could find. I run Memory Diagnostics and, when it's done, I search my entire C: drive for all files written since before running the test. I find no logs that refer to "Memory" or "Diagnostics" or Memory Diagnostics". You have mentioned repeatedly that I could post the logs, but you have not said what logs. I search for the word "memory" and get no relevant results.

Multiple times it was suggested that you run the administrative command prompt command which will automatically collect the logs to the desktop. I saw you have tried some steps to repair. I consider that maybe it should be an in-place upgrade to repair the system files to check.
