The Lion upgrades do ok and after install reboot I get remote connection back up again. However after running software update, which downloads ARD Client 3. So you have so machines that are fine, and just one that is not? My problem child is a macbook pro. Same here ARD on Lion is unstable - some times it works and sometimes not.
