Linksys befsx41 hack

Then, you can have the best of both worlds: as full Linux system and a tiny, quiet box. I had a blast setting up mine, and it's stable as can be. Plus there are about a thousand mods and packages working QoS anyone? It really brings a powerful machine out of these devices. Wed Mar 15, am Hhhmmmm Having downloaded the latest version from the linksys site, I thought I'd have a quick look on the dslreports forums to see what had been said about it.

But there isnt one for the Ver 1. After reading all those threads on dslreports well not all of them I'm somewhat dubious about how beneficial this upgrade might be when weighed against the possible outcomes. I've read how to properly do the upgrade, but am now begining to think its really not worth the hassle. I have no problems apart from it letting that jscript get my internal ip addy. No other security site I've been to can do it, so maybe I'll not worry about it, or look for a fix within windows or via my modem although I doubt my modem set in bridge mode can do anything useful.

At the moment: UPnP works fine took a bit of fiddling to get it there, no need for it atm so is disabled I've got almost all web filters set to deny and am not suffering any effects that I know of My games all work ok, sometimes need port forwarding setup depending on game if I'm hosting. I've got it set to static routing atm, but had it on DHCP and it was fine. It did reset last night while trying to do a video call, but I managed it later without a hitch, so long as no other problems arrise, I think I've talked myself into staying with what I've got atm.

Wed Mar 15, pm It really amazes me how many people live on a regular basis with seemingly trivial but quite annoying problems like with this particular router. I've seen it happen time and again with various things.

Some people will continue to live with stupid problems like this until it almost drives them insane rather than doing the proper thing and spending a relatively small amount of money to ease their own pain.

That being said. This is mere speculation. It's seems obvious that since Linksys releases other updates in a fairly timely manner that they probably realized there is a more serious issue, possibly with hardware, with those routers than with their other's. Or maybe their priority has become their wireless routers rather than their wired ones. Makes good marketing sense since those are the ones that are most likely going to be purchased even if the wireless function isn't used.
